This has been an exceptional last 2 weeks for Caleb. We noticed over the last few days that Caleb’s whole demeanor has changed. Tiffany and I noticed the other day that he was being very happy, animated, and acting overjoyed. He would constantly clap, laugh, make loud noises and show signs of simply being elated with life. We commented to each other that Caleb is becoming himself again. This is exactly how he was before the accident. He could be doing anything, playing with toys, walking down the hallway, riding with mom in the stroller at the grocery store, and he would all of a sudden start clapping, laughing and saying, “Yaaaay!” He has started doing that again!
A couple of other things that have happened recently was at one of our latest therapy sessions, we were supposed to get a new list of goals for the next 3 months (as you remember Caleb accomplished 6 out of the last 7 in just 1 month). The therapist came back after the session and told us that she apologized but that we would have to get our new list of goals next week. The reason? Because as she observed him that day, she said she saw that he had already accomplished a number of the new goals for the next 3 months as well! Oh well, back to the drawing board I suppose! The therapists have told us that they are amazed at how rapidly Caleb continues to recover.
We got much the same report the other day when Caleb had his evaluation with TEIS. With everything that he was tested on, Caleb excelled all expectations. The therapist mentioned that Caleb shows signs of being exceptionally smart. He followed all of her commands, repeated words, and even demonstrated things to her that they didn’t even think were possible for him to do at this time.
We ask that you continue to pray for Caleb. He has really started to talk more which as you can imagine, we love to hear his little voice. As we have been saying prayers before dinner every night, the other day he repeated something Colby had said. We thought it was very fitting. He said, “God is great.”
